Matthew Smith

Defence Science and Technology Group

Matthew Smith is a current employee of Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), working as a warhead design engineer since 2022. He began his university education at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney in 2017, graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), specialising in Aerospace Engineering, and completing a thesis on the characterization of C/SiOC ceramic matrix composite materials. During his university years, Matthew undertook a 12 month internship within DSTG, working on early characterization of reactive materials with high strain rate dynamic testing. As a graduate, he now continues similar areas of research within DSTG, along with other explosives and warhead related research. Matthew now continues his education through a Masters in Explosive Ordnance Engineering at UNSW ADFA.
