Lucia Falzon is a Senior Applied Scientist at Consunet, where she conducts and leads research on information warfare (IW) centred around a DSTG-funded project on machine-facilitated planning for IW. She has over 20 years' experience as a leader and mentor in mathematical modelling of social phenomena and dynamic social network analysis. In her previous role at DSTG she conducted and led research programs on algebras of time-ordered relations, social network analysis, lattice analysis for social structures, and modelling and analysing patterns of social diffusion. Over her career she has fostered extensive collaborations through her honorary positions at the University of Melbourne and at the University of Adelaide, through a strong collaborative network developed through the DSTG Strategic Response Initiative program (Modelling Complex Human Systems) and through her role on the senior researchers committee of the Australian Network of Social Network Analysts (ANSNA). She has a deep understanding of defence requirements, particularly in the areas of information operations and Grey Zone conflict and well-established links to defence science communities. As a DSTG alumna she is frequently approached for advice to shape research proposals that are related to her area of expertise.
